More than 3,000 people have already enjoyed FICXPLUS screenings in Gijón Sur during the first six months of 2018, an increase of 10% compared to 2017’s total attendance.
FICXPLUS initiative can be considered a complete success. This event within Xixón International Film Festival offers a programme that features screenings, Q&As, workshops and other activities during the whole year.

The O.V. film series (Ciclo VOS) has already received more than 3,000 spectators since the beginning of 2018, an increase of 10% compared to 2017’s Ciclo VOS total attendance.
This general increase means an average of 154 people per session during the first term of the year. Some of the 20 screenings included in this film series reached full capacity. FICX would like to thank all the participants who have supported FICXPLUS programme for their devoted love for cinema.

FICXPLUS not only has been focused on film screenings but also in organising meetings with directors such as Adrián Orr, Carlos Balbuena and Ramón Salazar, who have presented their latest works in Gijón after visiting Buenos Aires, Berlin or Tribeca festivals.

In addition, FICXPLUS has established cooperation with different institutions and initiatives in Gijón (Gijón Sound Festival, LEV, 30 días en bici, Gijón Botanic Garden) and also in Asturias (MUSOC Human Rights Film Festival, LGTBIQ Festival). At national level, FICX has recently worked with the African Film Festival of Tarifa and L’Institut Français in Madrid in a special series dedicated to the actor and director Vincent Macaigne. Our Festival will also support Filmadrid Festival in one of its Special Screenings. On the international scene, FICXPLUS has organised three screenings with the International Film Festival Rotterdam and has included its May programme in #Cities4Europe campaign, together with the European and International Affairs Department in Gijón, to celebrate the European Month of Culture (May 2018).
