Synopsis The debut feature by brilliant American actor Paul Dano surprised the viewers at the Sundance and Cannes festivals with his solid script, based on the novel of the same name by one of the best American literary authors of recent decades, Richard Ford. It analyzes the crisis of the traditional family in North America in the sixties. The center of the story, and consequently of the film, is given by the point of view of a teenager who observes, from a terrifying proximity, how the relational ties that have shaped his life up to that moment are destroyed after the loss of his father’s job, who goes to fight the fires that are devastating the country. A fitting metaphor for the perfect storm that threatens the values of traditional society at this key period in U.S. history.
