Third film in Hong Sang-soo’s career, shot in black and white and showcasing many of the style elements the director will use recurrently in his next works. The title alludes to a painting by the French artist Marcel Duchamp, The Bride Stripped Bare by her Bachelors (1915), and refers to the woman in this “love triangle”. Soo-jung, writer at a local TV, will be caught between the attention paid to her by two men: the mature director and producer she works with and who is looking for financing for his new film and whom Soo-jung assists, and Jae-hoon, a young man from a rich family who will agree to be the main producer of his filmmaking friend’s project. When the rich businessman finds out that Soo-jung is still a virgin, his chase will intensify and border on obsession.
