After nine days of intensive cinematography, Gijón International Film Festival closed down in the Teatro de la Laboral. A gala presented by Pepe colubi and Paula Prendes. Humour, glamour and above all, the characteristic proximity of the competition.
An award ceremony marked by the elegant Spanish of Eugène Green, that gave the prize to Best Director to the american Kelly Reichardt. "It's an honor for me to receive this award in my name, my husband's and his lover", joked Mirela Oprisor as she received the trophies for Best Actor (Mimi Branescu) and Best Actress ex aequo (Mirela Oprisor and Maria Popistasu), that also remembered the work of the crew of Tuesday, after Christmas when she came back to welcome the Principado de Asturias prize to Best Feature Film.

Also of note was the enthusiasm with which Salette Ramalho (Curtas Vila do Conde) received the Principado de Asturias prize to Best Short Film, in the name of Sandro Aguilar, director of Mercury.

The audience of the closing gala applauded the words of the Día d'Asturias winners. Jim Box announced his next feature film, and the co-director of Módulo 10, Teresa Marcos, offered the prize to the interns of Villabona pirson, who star in her short.

Once all the awards were given, Borja Cobeaga, director of No Controles, and his actors arrived on stage to delight all present with their direct humour, including singing "Happy Birthday" to Unax Ugalde, as a prelude to the closing film.
