THE PRODUCER, WHO HAS BEN AWARDED ONE OSCAR AND THREE GOYA AWARDS, WILL BE HONOURED BY 'MUJERES DE CINE' DURING THE CLOSING GALA OF THE GIJÓN FESTIVAL
Cristina Huete is one of those essential names for anyone who wants to review Spanish cinema in its last four decades. Her work in production led her to win her first Goya for Best Film in 1992, thanks to the unforgettable Belle Epoque directed by her partner and regular collaborator, Fernando Trueba, and which achieved a milestone in the history of Spanish cinema by winning the Oscar Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Huete won its second Goya for Best Film in 1999 thanks to one of the most ambitious productions in the history of Spanish cinema, La niña de tus ojos, a work of exemplary artistic and production values.

With Chico & Rita, a dream trip to the Cuban son that moved to the rhythm of the melodies of Bebo Valdés, Cristina began in the field of animation, winning the Goya for Best Animation Film and once again the recognition of the Academy with her nomination for Best Animation Feature Film at the 2011 Oscars.

In the current decade, the success has continued to accompany the professional work of this great producer achieving in 2014 the most recent Goya award of her career to date with Vivir es fácil con los ojos cerrados, David Trueba, in the category of Best Film.

Cristina Huete's professional life has been dedicated almost entirely to the Seventh Art, in an example of vital dedication to a passion shared by all her family. As the producer herself commented to her colleagues in her Goya collection of Vivir es fácil con los ojos cerrados: "Cinema has been my life and my family's, we do it for love, we dream about movies. I want to continue producing". More than 20 films produced during these four decades of dedication endorse his commitment to that shared passion.

The Mujer de Cine Award was created in 2011 by Mujeres de Cine (reference platform for Spanish cinema made by women: www.mujeresdecine.com). Its objective is to highlight the importance of those filmmakers and professionals of the Seventh Art who have opened the way for new generations, as well as to promote and make visible the work of women in the film industry of our country.

Every year Mujeres de Cine awards the Premio Mujer de Cine within the framework and in collaboration with the Gijón/Xixón International Film Festival, and with the support of the Oficina de Políticas de Igualdad de Gijón/Xixón.

In 2019 Cristina Huete joins the directors and screenwriters Josefina Molina (National Cinematography Award this year), Cecilia Bartolomé and Isabel Coixet, the figurine Yvonne Blake, the editor Carmen Frías, the representative Katrina Bayonas, the actress Mercedes Sampietro and also the producer Esther García, who will award the prize to Cristina Huete, to complete the history of the award Mujer de Cine.

In 2019, Mujeres de Cine reaches its tenth anniversary, highlighting once again the work of women referents of our cinematography with the Premio Mujer de Cine a Cristina Huete and betting on a decisive visibility of the work of women filmmakers with Mujeres de Cine VOD, the first Video on Demand platform dedicated entirely to Spanish cinema made by women.
