Teatro Jovellanos, Centro de Cultura Antiguo Instituto (CCAI), Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura, Gijón Sur and Yelmo Cines Ocimax will host the Festival's programme
The 55th edition of Gijón/Xixón International Film Festival will be celebrated in five locations from four areas of the city.

Teatro Jovellanos will be the main venue of the FICX, as it's traditional; adding the Centro de Cultura Antiguo Instituto, where aside from the shows, there'll also be presentations and complementary activities, as well as the Jornadas de Industria.

Centro Municipal Integrado de Gijón Sur, the regular FICX venue for the Ciclo VOS, will host sessions in both the mornings and the afternoons.

On the other hand, Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura will host projections and workshops from the Enfants Terribles programme in the mornings, while in the afternoons there will be passes for the audience at the Teatro and Paraninfo, headquarters for the FICX/Laboral Cinemateca new section.

As a novelty in 2017, the Yelmo Cines Ocimax venue located at La Calzada neighbourhood will offer four rooms to show the programmes from several sections.

Given the legal uncertainty surrounding Cines Centro, an option pursued until the very last moment, the Divertia Gijón S.A. team has decided to relocate the 55FICX programme to Yelmo Cines Ocimax. This solution has been taken thanks to the excellent willingness shown by Yelmo Cines Ocimax both at corporate and humane level, manifested by a genuine interest to become one of the main venues for FICX. This newborn collaboration with Yelmo Cines Ocimax guarantees a projection quality much higher than in previous editions.

Gijón/Xixón International Film Festival wishes to show the utmost thanks to the people in charge in the optional venues discussed throughout the process, as well as recognize their generous and honest solidarity, their willingness to host the FICX if necessary, advocating to offer alternatives to the organization for the proper execution of the current edition.
