Both entities will share the New Yorker’s music documentary première.

American filmmaker Abel Ferrara, an underground legend and with one of the most rebellious works in European cinema for some decades, will present his new film in a première shared between Filmoteca Española and Gijón/Xixón International Film Festival.
The screening will take place within the comprehensive retrospective hosted by Cine Doré in September and October, and it will be screened October 6th at the Sección Oficial (out of competition) in the 55FICX.

Alive in France, presented outside of competition at the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at Cannes Film Festival, reviews Ferrara’s French tour with his band. A unique opportunity to get to know the Ferrara’s public and intimate self, the star joining the audience during his concerts and the one that stays out of the limelight, the man beyond the mask. From Toulouse to Paris, Ferrara films himself with the same incorruptible honesty that marks his filmography.

Gijón/Xixón International Film festival will continue unveiling the programme for his 55th edition, which will take place from November 17th to the 25th. The joint première of Alive in France is framed within a future line of collaboration that both entities (Filmoteca and FICX) want to establish, and it will lead to other joint activities.
