THE FICX REVEALS THE MEMBERS OF THE JURIES
Spanish director Judith Colell will preside the International Jury of the 54. Colell, who has signed films like Nosotras, 53 días de invierno or Elisa K and is currently a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Spain, will head a jury formed by five experts including David Matamoros. He is a producer with a record of awards and international recognition in both Europe and the United States.His credits include, among others, Menu degustación (Roger Gual), Vulcania (José Skaf) and El año de la Plaga (C. Martín Ferrera).He is currently in pre-production for The House That Jack Buildby Lars Von Trier.
Alongside them will be Nima Javidi, Iranian director who won three prizes at the 52nd edition of FICX with his debut film, Melbourne (Best Director, Best Screenplay and Young Jury Award); Programmer Kathleen Haney of WorldFest Houston, and screenwriter and director Claudia Pinto, who participated in the Gijón competition with her debut feature, La distancia más larga (2013), which received 17 international awards.
The international jury will distribute the prizes of the Sección Oficial to contest, which this year has the latest works by Marco Bellocchio, Andrei Konchalovsky, Brillante Mendoza, Manane Rodríguez or Danis Tanovic.
The jury of short films for competition consists of director Nacho Vigalondo (director of the short 7:35 AM, winner of the FICX, and lengths such as TheLos cronocrímenes, ExtraterrestreyOpen Windows) and the actresses Elena Furiase (El internado, Luz de Soledad y Poveda) and Úrsula Corberó (Isabel, Perdiendo el Norte, ¿Quién mató a Bambi?).
AnimaFICX's jury will be director Anca Damian, winner of this section last year by La montagne magique; Fumio Obata, multi-faceted graphic designer, author of several videos for Duran Duran. This group is completed by Isabel Herguera, Director, Producer and Professor of Animation at the KHM Kunsthochschule für Medien in Cologne.
For the second consecutive year, the CIMA Award will be awarded to the best director of all the competitive sections. The jury that will award this award is formed by the Italian producer Francesca Delise, producer of Los Feliz, who has worked in festivals like Triestre and MedFilm in Rome; Marian Matachana, founder of the Talent Agency and partner of the production company KaBoGa Art & Films, and the actress and director María Reyes, who won the Goya for Best Short Film with her first work, the short film Una Caja de Botones.
The FIPRESCI jury is composed of three writers and critics of the International Federation of Film Critics: Jean-Max Méjean (CinéLibres de Le Nouvel Observateur, Jeune Cinema, author of books such as Almodovar, femmes et les chansons and Giuletta Masina, la muse de Fellini), Abbas Bozkurt(Time Out Istambul,Altyazi, Sabit Fikir)and Pablo Garcia Conde (Mundo Hispánico, Transit: cine y otros desvíos)
