Sánchez, self confessed film buff, has mixed in his work a reference to a film icon from his youth HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey, with the popular eye which is (from 2001 no less) the icon defining the film festival in our city. An homage to the legendary film which, about to turn 50, is more up-to-date than ever thanks to the recent findings by space probe Juno in Jupiter’s satellites and the surprising advances in Artificial Intelligence.

The eye of the Festival’s audiences, thus represented by our beloved eye, love of films, symbolized by the homage to one of the biggest icons in film history and Artificial Intelligence as a technological milestone, mix to be the three pillars holding the iconography of FICX 54.

Sánchez has talked about his “feeling of responsibility in taking over one of the cultural icons in our city”, following as FICX poster creator in the footseps of suche well known creators (both in Spain and abroad) as Javier Mariscal, Ana Juan, Pep Carrió and Isidro Ferrer. Sánchez doesn’t consider his work as a personal reward but as “an acknowledgment of Asturian illustrators and graphic desginers”, a collective full of great names” which place
Asturias as a “referent in Spain”.

In his work César Sánchez, admirer “of artists who have had an impact on poster making history, such as Saul Bass” has tried to reach for “classic iconography while keeping simple and clean linework”.
