Paco Roca
The prestigious artist Paco Roca (Valencia, 1969) will design the poster for the Animaficx section of Gijon International Film Festival. The artist's talent will place itself at the service of animation in order to create the poster for the new competitive section for animation

Roca, renowned comic book creator, started his career in cinema with the adaptation of his graphic novel Wrinkles, published in 2007. This tale about old age and Alzheimer collected quite a few awards in the paper version, among them the National Comic Book Award. The animation movie (2011), shown in FICX last year, proved Roca's skill when translating the essence of his work to the big screen. The film won the Goya to the best Animation Film and to the Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay) in the last edition of the awards given by the Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas.

"I have always liked animation", states Roca. "You create a world out of nothing depending on the kind of story you want to tell, just like in comic books. The design of the poster I'm creating for Animaficx goes along these lines. An animator that tells his stories just like a puppeteer" the artist has said regarding his next creation.

The film Wrinkles is one of the best examples of the routes being followed by animation. This genre has traditionally been considered part of children's universe, but it is now exploring more and more the possibilities it offers to tell stories and reach new audiences. Gijon International Film Festival has paid heed to the emergence of animation and that is why it has been decided to create the section Animaficx, which will take place for the first time during the Festival to be held between November 16 to 24 2012.

The FICX poster will be done by Javier Mariscal, who has already designed the logo for the Fiftieth Edition of the Festival. The Asturian Monchi Pedreira will create the poster for the Enfants Terribles section, devoted to movies for children and young people and heir to the initial project of the Festival.
