Music has always been an essential element of Gijon Film Festival's programme. Concerts and parties are the natural extension of a daily agenda that continues even when the lights are off and that offers the Festival's audience and guests the possibility of enjoying, free of charge, a pleasant evening that includes all kinds of genres from folk music to electronic. National and international artists, young and veteran, will be responsible for a non-stop recreation that continues when the movies end.
Around twenty bands will compose the soundtrack of 48 FICXixón nights. Casino de Asturia's Acapulco Room will host the misteriours sensuality of Vinila von Bismark & The Lucky Dados. Former member of Krakovia, Vinila has become our very own national Dita von Teese. She'll be in charge of launching the music programme at the 48 Edition openning ceremony with the songs of her latest album: The Secret Carnival.

After last year's success, the Festival will programme again the indie music evening The Fiesta, that will take place at LABCafé saturday night November the 20th (Admission Fee: 25 euros). A night full of rhythm that will be started by Love of Lesbian , a band from Barcelona that became famous after switching the language of their lyrics from english to spanish in 2005 with the album Maniobras de escapismo and Cuentos chinos para niños del Japón (2007), or the more recent work 1999 (o cómo generar incendios de nieve con una lupa enfocando la Luna). The Wave Pictures will fill the stage with a pop guitar style from the 60's, to present Susan rode the cyclone. The winner of the Best Spanish Band at the MTV European Music Awards, We are Standard, land in Gijón to make the audience dance until exhaustion, after a deep revonation of their characteristic sound. Also at The Fiesta we'll be able to experiencie "a journy through the most exciting New York sound of the last three decades" offered by the band Polock. This long and interesting party will end with Wagon Cookin's performance, a very gastronomical electronic style that mixes ingredientes such as jazz, soul, latin, Brasil, funk y house, amongst others.

The first Sunday night (November 21st) will start with the sweet voice of Maika Makovski. The artist from Mallorca has found her style resulting in an album (Maika Makovski, 2010) that she's described as the end of a long journy to the center of her being, after her previous production Kradiaw (2005) and Kraj So Kóferot (2007). Jonston, the storyteller by nature, will take the baton to continue a mellow night with his natural uneducated voice and his latest Taller de memoria.

The rock veterans, Sex Museum, arrive to Gijón on November 22nd , with 15 Hits that Never Were, a retrospective that blows of the dust of their early years songs. 9 canciones minúsculas, un huracán y un millón de lunares, composed by the asturian musician Bueno, will run a fresh pop show full of precious spanish lyrics.

Electric Six (Danger! High Voltage) will invade the Acapulco Room on November the 23rd to present their latest album Zodiac, a first time in the city tempting opportunity to listen (live) to their new songs. Following, Ornamento y Delito, a basque band originally formed in Madrid, that will reveal the most arid essence of contemporary spanish music.

Agent Ribbons' guitar, violin and drum Victorian Punk will intoxicate with their Texan glamour the night of the 24th, along with the power pop of Thee Brandy Hips. After the two EP's recorded live in 2006 and 2007, the basque band releases We are love, under the seal Young Hipster Records.

Their album debut, Upskirts recieved a very positive appraisal by the critics in 2008. The Blows, return with a seven song album called Berlin, that includes the Pepe Jeans advertising campaign song Catwalk, which they will play live in Gijón November 25th. In that same night's programme we'll listen to the punk rock, sometimes painted with a touch of soul, from the New Zealand band The Situations.

Friday 26th is going to be full of Chicago style good vibrations, coming from the elegance of the local group Edwin Moses. Pedro Vigil and Pablo Errea will release their fourth LP during Gijon Film Festival.

The Closing Party on saturday 27th (Tickets: 10 euros anticipate sells/ 12 box office) will host Homeboy Dj, (Low Club, Madrid) and Dj de Mierda. Both of them are two of the most successful spanish representatives in the electronic music contemporary panorama.

All concerts and parties will take place in the Acapulco Room of Casino de Asturias with free entrance except The Closing Party (HomeboyDj and Dj de Mierda) that will have a fee of 10 euros in anticipate sells and 12 that same night at the box office.
