Synopsis In the 50s, Dorian Paskowitz left his lucrative career as a doctor to indulge in his three passions: surf, sex and an alternative lifestyle. He became a legendary surfer, had nine children and his alternative lifestyle consisted of getting his numerous family in a caravan and travel around the world catching waves. The Paskowitz children grew up, some became surfing champions, some made a name for themselves as musicians, the rest got lost along the way. None of them were ready to live in the real world: "Swimming with sharks was not dangerous, but going to school was".
Director bio Doug Pray was born in Denver, Colorado, and earned an M.F.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles's School of Theater, Film and Television. In addition to directing music videos and commercials and working as an editor, he is best known for his feature-length documentaries about popular American subcultures, such as Hype! (1996), which won the award for best documentary at the Seattle International Film Festival, or Scratch, nominated for an Independent Spirit Award in 2001.
