Synopsis Michael Grothe is a young Literature teacher at a Berlin secondary school, and what sets him apart from the rest of his colleagues is that he has not thrown in the towel yet. He is still fighting to snatch them back from apathy and conformism, their insolence, cruel pranks, wicked deeds. Nico is the blackest sheep in the class and poses the biggest challenge for Grothe. The teacher looks beyond his boasting mask, which hides nothing but his rootlessness, his rage and an enormous creative potential. What Grothe does not know is that Nico is three steps away from the edge and still walking.
Director bio Born in Italy in 1973, he grew up in Frankfurt/Main, where he started his career as an assistant to advertising and portrait photographers. In 1992 he made his first short film and after working at various advertising agencies, he joined the German Film and Television Academy in 1994 and his graduation film, Dunckel (1998) was quite well-received by the German critics. He was a guest of the Panorama section of the Berlinale in 2005 when he presented his feature, Keine Lieder über Liebe.
