Synopsis
In Iran it is forbidden for women to sing solo in front of a male audience since the Islamic Revolution of 1979. Young composer Sara Najafi is bent on breaking this veto and organizing a concert in Tehran together with other female solo singers. An adventure told now by her brother in this honest, ironic, brilliant but specially incredibly brave and filled with surprising storytelling devices documentary. A feature that goes way beyond its huge documentary value and becomes a story of characters to relate to. It reminds us that astonishing restrictions are still in place in the 21 century, but it also shows us that one can always have faith in a better tomorrow and that we must fight for that.
Director bio Ayat Najafi was born in Iran in 1976 and lives between Tehran and Berlin.
