Synopsis Concrete Clouds is thai Lee Chatametikool’s first movie. Well known and appreciated for his works as editor in independent films in his country, he has been responsible in the last decade of editing twenty films, among them four by Apichatpong Weerasethakul, including Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives (Lung Bunmi Raluek Chat, 2010) Palm d’Or at Cannes Festival. Considering this, we can safely say that behind this new director hides one of the responsibles of Apichatpong’s success and, hence, of the so called “Thai new wave”. Concrete Clouds turns out to be a moving portrait of a concrete moment of Thailand’s reality. An exercise in regression and memory that illustrates the economic, social and, specially, sentimental cycles of the country, confronting idealization and pragmatism to ask people where do they belong.
