Lachlan Mac Aldonich is Scottish but has lived in California for decades. The former rock star earns a living working on a farm and selling his boss’ products in a L.A. market. One night he ends up in prison for drinking under the influence. He not only has to pay a fine but also sees his license revoked. And he has to face a much more serious problem when he is sent to a immigration lawyer. He faces imminent deportation because of this infraction and of previous trouble with the law years ago. The time has come for Lachlan, lonely and depressive, to reconnect with the family he left behind, for him to stop creating podcasts about rock stars who died in strange circumstances and for him to make amends with his past. California Solo allows its main character to come to terms with former excesses, both musical and not, and realize that different paths to those initially imagined can exist.

Director bio
Born in 1977, he studied Russian History and Literature at Harvard, and got a degree with honours. He then graduated in movie making by Columbia University, New York and worked as production assistant in some Woody Allen ("Hollywood Ending") and Agnieska Holland ("Washington Square") films. His first movie as a director was "Blue State", from 2008, starring Paquin and Brekin Meyer, and released in that year’s Tribeca Film Festival and distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. "California Solo" is his second film as writer and director.
