Synopsis The world of dreams is in red alert: evil Haruman has stolen the sand of dreams, the work tool with which the Sandman, with the help of his loyal sheep Nepomuk, carried millions of children on nightly journeys to the world of dreams, a world in which even the most incredibly magical things, such as flying umbrellas or talking pies, are possible. Haruman's plan is to make only nightmares possible. Something must be done about it, so Nepomuk runs swiftly to Earth, sent by the Sandman, to search for a valiant captain to help them recover the sand ASAP. But she brings back Miko, a kid who lives in a lighthouse and who, in actual fact, was only playing disguised as a captain. Will Miko raise up to this great challenge? A vital dilemma, since everybody's dreams are at stake. Careful aesthetics and trepidating adventures in a film which combines the best traditional and modern animation techniques. Based on Sandman, a cult figure on German TV which has been sharing sweet dreams to smaller kids.
Director bio Sinem Sakaoglu is a filmmaker who caught the animation bug in 2000 with her first stop-motion short, Eva. In 2004, she studied traditional 2D animation at animation-school-hamburg. Her graduation film, Bo, received first place at Hamburg Animation Awards. Sandman and the Lost Sand of Dreams is her directorial debut.
Jesper Møller has been Director and Creative Head of Feature animation at A. Film A/S since 1997. Throughout the entire period also engaged in directing, storyboarding and animating numerous commercials, TV series and educational programs.
