• 50th. Gijon International Film Festival16-24 November, 2012

Communication from the new Direction of the Festival:

First of all, we would like to recognize and give our thanks to José Luis Cienfuegos, as much as to the other directors who have lead this project during these 49 years, for the fine work developed.

Of course, we extend this thanks to all the people that have been involved, one way or another, to make it possible for Gijón Film Festival to be recognized internationally as one of the most attractive events.

Secondly, provided the variety of opinions and comments that have been reflected lately in the social networks and the media, we want to remark here that it is our intention to preserve the independent programming line that has been the festival's label in the last few years but, at the same time, open this to new proposals such as animation films, among others.

It is our aim to achieve the recognition from the audience, from the professionals in the film industry and from the media.

With all this in mind, in a few weeks time, we will call a press conference in order to advance the first details about the activities programmed for this 50th. Anniversary.

Many thanks for your time and attention.

    The direction team.
